International Mountain Day

The international world mountain day is coming up on 11th of December and I crave to see them having not seen them of almost 15 months. I have seen most of the kind of mountains: the rocky ones, the sandy ones, the icy ones and I have even seen one of the world's most oldest mountains which will be the Aravalli ranges. Yup, you heard that right, Aravalli mountains are about 1.8 Billion years old! they stretch for almost about 700 km throughout northwest India. They start in the country's capital, Delhi. stretching in the South-West direction, they pass through Haryana and Rajasthan and finally end in Gujarat. i love the icy ones as they are the most spectacular to watch. Most mountains are hard to drive through which i know for i have seen my dad drive carefully through the steep hills. mountains are homes to people, a place where people travel to, to watch its beauty and mountains are much more than hill stations. mountains have served as national boundaries for battles for many centuries. it is a natural feature that serves as a place to live for animals as well and without our precious Himalayas, rain would be scarce in India. in Kashmir, people have settled entire cultures are rituals in mountains, they have raised a special kind of wool named as pashmina which is sold as very expensive. Mountains have done great jobs for us,  but now it is our job to save them. here is a video released by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations about mountains: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zX0WEl66Kio . As you can see, we, even if not intentionally, we are destroying our own mountains. even by driving to work, we are destroying our own mountains. we need to put forth this cause beyond politics and other unimportant matters and help save our mountains. by global warming and erosion of mountains, we are not only adding a few degrees to our temperature, not only are we hurting those animals whose homes are in the mountains, not only are we endangering many animals but we are destroying nature and our home. tons of greenhouse gasses are emitted every year and the ice on mountains start to melt. even the Aravalli mountains i mentioned are dying. we need to help this cause and save our mountains. a lot of fresh water comes from the glaciers situated in mountains and just think about how soon villages will be flooded and so much will be lost. many people in organizations are working to help them and i give them a big thank you for putting their time, money, effort and thir will to help nature. even we can help by driving our car a day less in the week, to make as less polution as possible. even over exploitation is a major problem. this year's theme is mountains biodiversity. so lets celebrate their rich biodiversity, as well as address the threats they face!
lets put forward this cause and help these natural treasures.
thank you for reading to all the way to the end, i shall write more next saturday!
See ya!
